March 1st, 2012
Just 30 days ago we heard the news that Susan G. Komen was going to cut funding to Planned Parenthood's preventative clinical breast exams to uninsured women. Although they have reversed their decision, our local fashion community felt it was important to come together to show our support to Planned Parenthood of the Great Northwest. Four weeks later with 14 designers, 60 models, 30 hairstylists & makeup artists, 40 volunteers, 10 performers, 45 sponsors and 200 attendees, Seattle came together to stand with Planned Parenthood, and it was pretty amazing. To all my old and new friends in fashion, I sincerely thank you for being a part of the Pink Carpet Project.

It's been an incredible experience collaborating with all of the designers, performers, artists and volunteers to support Planned Parenthood. Without the dozens of volunteers and sponsors who have each generously donated time, energy, money and compassion, the Pink Carpet Project wouldn't have happened. There's no better way to send a message-- that we support comprehensive, accessible women's healthcare-- than through the arts.
Congratulations to everyone for being a part of something so meaningful. See you next year!
Love,
Cameron

A Little Bit about the Sati Collection...
It's easy to find inspiration in nature. Water is an element that soothes, sustains, intrigues-even heals. Its simple grace in form and movement, and reflection of light and cool colors are found in each piece of the Sati Collection.
In honor and reverence of this earth element, The Sati 2012 collection utilizes water-sustainable fabrics like 100% certified organic cotton, bamboo and hemp.
Conventional cotton crops in the United States are dusted every year with millions of pounds of toxic chemicals, including cancer-causing pesticides. Even in the whitening and finishing process of cotton, it's common practice to employ harsh and deadly chemicals like chlorine and formaldehyde. Research shows that the use of synthetic fertilizers, additives, defoliants and other substances used in growing conventional cottons can irrevocably damage soil, pollute water systems and sicken living beings.
Growing conventional cotton requires heavy and wasteful irrigation and accounts for 2.6% of the world's yearly water usage, whereas organic cotton farms are naturally rain-fed. Just one t-shirt made from conventional cotton represents 2700 liters of water, and a third of a pound of chemicals. Organic cotton may take longer to grow, and may cost a dollar or two more than the alternative, but the look, feel and global impact is certainly worth it.
In producing (and supporting) organic cottons, we embrace and enable biodiversity and healthy ecosystems, improve the quality of soil and conserve water-that is thoughtfully chic.
I hope you love the Sati 2012 collection.
Love,
Cameron
